New Genshin Impact leaks about Natlan’s Pyro Archon have started to emerge and, this time, instead of leaning into the character’s alleged description, the rumors talk about key points in the story. Officially, the Pyro Archon is shrouded in mystery and their whereabouts are unknown for over 1,000 years – in fact, it is unknown if the character called Murata is still the reigning deity in the Nation of Pyro. Earlier this year, however, some rumors started describing the Pyro Archon’s leaked design in Genshin Impact, hinting at a Carnaval-inspired outfit.
Now, more recent leaks started hinting at what may be some key elements of the upcoming narrative. According to information provided by White Leaks, which was shared in a post on Reddit, the Pyro Archon from Natlan and a highly rumored character called Xbalanque have a master and apprentice relationship. Instead of the Archon being the master, however, White Leaks indicates that the Pyro Sovereign from Natlan is an apprentice to Xbalanque, who is mentoring them. If this is true, then there is a big twist in this Genshin Impact story.

Pyro Archon’s Story May Be A Drastic Change From Others In Genshin Impact
Archons Tend To Be At The Top Of The Chain Of Command
Surely, the story of each region of Teyvat is unique and each Archon operates in a distinct manner. However, so far, Archons have always been at the top of the chain, with one or two characters supporting them. In Mondstadt, Venti does not mess too much with the rule of law as a means to ensure freedom, leaving Jean in command. In Liyue, Rex Lapis has Ningguang taking care of the region, while in Inazuma, Raiden Ei has Yae Miko and Kujou Sara to overlook the archipelago in Genshin Impact.
“Even though players should consider information with a grain of salt, it does seem like the game’s story is picking up when it comes to seriousness.”
Even in Sumeru, where the Dendro Archon is a child, there is no one above the sovereignty of Nahida – instead, she relies on the aid of the Akademiya scholars and other law enforcers to rule, all of which are below her. The same can be said about Fontaine, where the Focalors left the Hydro Nation’s administration at the hand of Neuvillette. Of course, all of these arcs play out differently, but overall, Archons have people below them in Genshin Impact and not the other way around.
These new Pyro Archon leaks hint at a big shift in the way Archon stories are told. It is unknown what type of mentorship Xbalanque provides the Pyro Archon, and it is worth noting that early story leaks like these should be taken with an extra degree of caution. Early Fontaine leaks hinted at rivaling factions and there were even mentions of a minor civil war.
These rival factions turned out to be the Pneuma and Ousia alignments of the Arkhe system, which only really affects gameplay.
Even though players should consider information with a grain of salt, it does seem like the game’s story is picking up when it comes to seriousness. As the game moves into its sixth major region and the Traveler’s search for their sibling intensifies, it is expected that the overall narrative will start to focus on the important upcoming events, which may even contain a war on Celestia. Before that, however, players should wait for the release of Natlan in Genshin Impact 5.0 later this year.
