The 2024 Formula One World Championship begins March 2, and you can watch every Grand Prix this season on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2.
Hulu + Live TV is our favorite service for watching Formula One racing because it has every F1 channel and ESPN+ for added coverage. You’ll also get several other popular networks that carry live sports and auto racing.
Of course, there’s much to consider when choosing a TV service—especially since Formula One offers F1 TV at a low monthly cost. But keep reading as we highlight our recommended services and how you can watch F1 for free.

What channels have Formula One races?
In the U.S., live Formula One races air on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2. Each Grand Prix broadcast is commercial-free, with coverage provided by Sky Sports.
Spanish-language broadcasts appear primarily on ESPN Deportes, while ESPNews and ESPNU carry extra F1 programming—including some qualifying and practice sessions. You can also stream certain simulcasts and F2 races via ESPN+ and ESPN3.
Pro tip: If you’re looking for more Formula One drama, check out the behind-the-scenes docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive—now streaming on Netflix.
What is the Formula One schedule in 2024?
The 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship schedule runs from March to December. A notable change from the 2023 calendar is the return of the Chinese Grand Prix, which means there are a record 24 races this season.

Pros
- Every F1 race
- Unlimited cloud DVR
- ESPN+ and Disney+ included
Cons
- Small sports channel lineup
- Only two simultaneous streams allowed
Hulu + Live TV offers the best TV plan for watching Formula One races. Starting at $76.99 per month, it’s the only service that gets you the main ESPN channels alongside ESPN+ at no extra cost. You’ll have access to every F1 event in 2024—including practice and qualifying sessions.
If your love of auto racing extends beyond F1 to IndyCar, MotoGP, or NASCAR, you’re in luck with Hulu + Live TV. The streaming service carries all the channels needed to watch those competitions. Plus, you’ll get unlimited cloud DVR storage to record those lengthy events. (Only YouTube TV offers the same DVR benefits, but you won’t find ESPN+ content there.)
Hulu + Live TV also has the MOTOR TREND channel, which features popular automotive series and live races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With only 13 sports channels, Hulu + Live TV still finds a way to satisfy us motorsport fanatics.

Pros
- Low-cost plans with ESPN channels
- Customizable packages
- Valuable sign-up deals
Cons
- Poor local channel coverage
- Weak DVR storage options
Sling TV is another live TV streaming service we recommend for watching Formula One races. At $40 per month, its Sling Orange plan includes ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3—making it the cheapest way to get the main ESPN networks. Sure, Hulu + Live TV comes with a larger channel count, but saving around $45 each month with Sling TV is more attractive for those on a budget.
Paying less comes with disadvantages, as Sling Orange doesn’t have local channels like ABC and CBS (ABC is available in select markets with Sling Blue). Fortunately, any Grand Prix that airs on ABC will stream on ESPN3. Plus, you can also supplement your Sling TV plan with a digital antenna for better local channel coverage. And it just so happens that you may be able to get a free antenna with one of Sling TV’s sign-up deals.
Another downside to Sling TV is that it only has 50 hours of DVR storage—but you can usually catch race replays by signing into the ESPN app using your Sling TV login.

F1 en Español: Most TV providers offer ESPN Deportes, but you may need a separate add-on to get the Spanish-language channel. Hulu + Live TV carries ESPN Deportes in its Español Add-on ($4.99 per month), while Sling TV offers the channel to Sling Latino + Sling Orange subscribers for a combined $45.00 per month.

If you’re not looking for a complete TV plan, you can go straight to the source for Formula One races with F1 TV. The streaming service carries every live Formula One event and has over 650 archived races for nostalgic viewing.
While F1 TV offers two plans (F1 TV Access and F1 TV Pro), you’ll want F1 TV Pro to get all the live content. The plan costs $10.99 per month or $84.99 per year, which is a steal compared to finding a TV provider with ESPN channels. Plus, you’ll have access to more features than what’s available through a standard TV plan.
We love F1 TV for its onboard camera views, live tracking data, and team radio feeds. You can also switch between channels for different race action and commentary in other languages.
If you enjoy keeping tabs on several race views simultaneously, you’ll want multiple devices running during live sessions. Unfortunately, the F1 TV app is less widely available than we would like. However, you can still find it on popular streaming devices like Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast with Google TV, and Roku. The app is also available on Android and iOS mobile devices.

As in recent seasons, ABC will air a handful of Formula One races in 2024. You can watch these events for free using an over-the-air (OTA) antenna to pick up your local ABC affiliate.
If you’re new to the antenna game, you first need to determine if ABC is accessible in your area. You can verify this by entering your zip code on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Reception Map Tool.
Once you know the tower distance of your local ABC station, head over to our Best Antennas for Cord-Cutters page to browse a wide selection of recommended antennas. We like the Mohu Leaf 50 for its 60-mile range and multi-directional design.
Pro tip: Streaming services like Fubo and YouTube TV usually offer free trials if an antenna doesn’t cut it for you. Both services carry F1 channels, so you can catch a Grand Prix or two by expertly mapping out your trial periods.
