Specialty Ingredients:

The following ingredients are affiliate links on Amazon because they may be a bit hard to find in your normal store. I wanted you to be able to see exactly which things we are using.

Red Velvet Boxed Cake Mix – You can use any brand you want. We just happened to have Duncan Hines on hand, so that is what we used.

All Purpose Flour– This recipe calls for 5 cups, but make sure to pay attention as you will only be adding 4.5 cup to the recipe. The remaining half cup flour will be for your lightly floured surface.

Rapid Rise Yeast – Brand really doesn’t matter as long as you get rapid rise other wise you may be waiting forever for your cinnamon rolls to double in size.

Brown Sugar– I prefer light, but you can choose your preference.

Granulated Sugar– Don’t be fooled by the fancy name, this is simply regular white sugar.

Powdered Sugar– We keep confectioner’s sugar at our house – any brand is just fine.

Reminder, not all ingredients in the Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rollsare linked above, just the ones that may be a bit difficult to find or that you might be unsure of what to look for.

Must Have Resources:

Now that you know how to make Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rollsat home, you really need to have the following Amazon affiliate tools on hand.

Large Bowl– This set is my favorite set on Amazon, by far! I use at least one of my bowls every single day. You will actually need a small bowl for the icing. This set includes both.

Baking Pan– I like this one because it comes with a cooling rack.

Cake Tester– I love my cake tester. Instead of throw away toothpicks, just use this inserted in the center of your cupcake to see if it is done.

Mixer: I included the link to the one I have because I am in love with it. A stand mixer makes it easier to get all the ingredients well mixed.

Make it a Meal:

I am going to give you a special treat meal idea for Valentine’ Day since these red velvet breakfast rolls scream Valentine’s Day Brunch to me!

Main Dish: Bacon and Eggs – you can never go wrong with either.

Vegetable Side: Make sure to include some fried potato cubes as filler.

Refreshing Drink: Coffee is your best bet here. However, if your special person doesn’t like coffee, go with an indulgent hot chocolate.

Can I make Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls ahead of time?

Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls are a delicious and easy breakfast treat. But can they be made ahead of time? The answer is yes!

To make ahead, simply prepare the dough according to the recipe instructions. Then, instead of rolling it into a log, wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

When you’re ready to bake, simply slice the chilled dough into rolls and bake as directed. You may need to add a few minutes to the baking time, but otherwise, these cinnamon rolls will be just as soft, fluffy, and delicious as if you’d made them fresh.

So go ahead and enjoy the convenience of making Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls ahead of time. They’ll be just as good – if not better! – than if you’d made them fresh.

And that’s a tasty guarantee!

What is the difference between red velvet cake mix and regular cake mix?

Red velvet cake is a type of cake that originated in the United States in the 19th century. The cake is usually made with a cocoa powder-based red food coloring and has a delicate, crumbly texture.

The traditional recipe for red velvet cake mix calls for buttermilk, which contributes to the cake’s distinctive flavor.

However, many modern recipes use sour cream or yogurt as a substitute for buttermilk.

Regular cake mix, on the other hand, is a blend of dry ingredients that is typically used to make sponge cakes. The most common recipe for regular cake mix calls for flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

While some recipes also call for milk or butter, these ingredients are not essential. As a result, regular cake mix is much less flavorful than red velvet cake mix.

In terms of texture, regular cake mix produces a lighter, airier cake than red velvet cake mix.

How long will these Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls stay fresh?

They will stay fresh for up to two days at room temperature or up to one week in the fridge.

However, these cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. So, if you don’t plan on eating them all within two days, it’s best to freeze them.

Can you freeze Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls?

Yes, you can freeze Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls. Here’s how: bake the cinnamon rolls according to package directions. Allow the rolls to cool completely, then place them in a freezer-safe and airtight bag or container.

To reheat, remove the desired number of rolls from the freezer and place them on a baking sheet.

Cover with a damp towel and let thaw for about 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, then bake the rolls for 10-12 minutes, until heated through. Enjoy!

How do you store Red Velvet Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls?

Red velvet cake mix cinnamon rolls are a deliciously sweet treat. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.

For best results, place the rolls in the container so that they are not touching each other. This will prevent them from sticking together and becoming mushy.

If you need to store the rolls for longer than three days, they can be frozen for up to two months. Again, Place the rolls in the freezer so that they are not touching each other.
