Spa-Francorchamps: het is een naam die bij elke autosportliefhebber een belletje doet rinkelen. Het Ardennencircuit is geliefd onder de fans, maar zeker niet minder onder de coureurs. De snelle omloop nabij het dorpje Stavelot, dat vernoemd is naar twee andere dorpen, kent op drie bochten na eigenlijk geen langzame gedeelten.
De bocht Eau Rouge (of is het eigenlijk Raidillon?) wordt door velen betiteld als de 'bocht der bochten'. Een snelle linkerknik wordt vrijwel direct opgevolgd door een ontzettend steile, razend rappe zwaai naar rechts. De coureurs moeten goed wakker zijn, want gelijk daarna moet het stuur naar links worden gemikt. In 2022 zal deze bocht na verbouwingen echter iets anders zijn.
Later op het circuit volgt de rechts-links-rechts-combinatie van Les Combes, waarna de lastige maar ontzettend snelle knikken van Stavelot en Blanchimont tevens op het programma staan. Voor een goede rondetijd op het circuit Spa-Francorchamps mag de rijder in kwestie geen enkele vorm van angst kennen, want dat wordt direct afgestraft met het verlies van enkele tienden van seconden.

De Formule 1 race van België wordt gehouden van 26 tot en met 28 juli 2024. Het weekend begint op vrijdag met de vrije trainingen, een dag later staat om 16:00 de belangrijke kwalificatie op het programma.
